Courtyard

At first the whole place looks deserted. Walls appear to be crumbling before you, old battlements broken in places, and archways leading to darkened hallways. Just as you're about to turn away, for this can not be the ledgendary WolfKeep you were searching for, you see a flash of gold from one of the archways.

A golden pelted wolf, his wings half-spread by his side, walks toward you. His eyes are a startling, bright blue but that dosn't change the intensity of his gaze. Behind him three other wolves fan out. One is dark while the other two are bright with yellow or blue hues. Unable to move, you watch the four wolves approch. They do not act hostile, only wary.

"Greetings, travler," the male says, his mouth forming the words as if he was human. "I am Khays Aamir, one of the pack leaders here at Alair."

"Ah, I thought the place was deserted," you say, managing a small laugh.

"Yes," the dark wolf says, her tone prim and hauhty. "Humans abandoned it and we've claimed it. We have no need for the same amentities as humans." Khays gives her a look, and a short growl before turning back to you.

"Mahi and I are from a world we do not mention, where humans were less then kind. Sahvente has given us refuge here. We serve him without complaint," he says, nodding in respect for the Alpha Lord of which he speaks. "Despite her harsh way of putting it, Mahi is correct. My pack tends the grounds, often the gaurdens and general cleaning of the courtyard and such. There are humans here, but not few, and they reside in a Hall apart from the main Keep. Dragons, too, you may see but again not many. There are plenty of wolves here," he says with a grin, his blue eyes sparkling like the ocean on a clear morning. "We may have no elaborate halls with tapastries and huge fireplaces, but this was given to the wolves, after all."

You nod, now understanding why the Keep looks as it does. And it makes sense, you admit. As Khays leads his pack away, you pick up your things and enter the WolfKeep.

All wolf breeds, except the Canese wolves, are somewhat copyrighted to me. Pern does not have wolves originally and those wolves are decendents of Alskyrian and Reririan wolves (mostly Alskyrian). Elruvian wolves are based off the Ryu wolves from an RPG I once played in. I changed Ryu to Elrion to avoid the creator's anger. Any wolf that was once from Ryu is now from Elrion.
